Ajax UpdatePanel does not return MS-SQL errors??

I have a datagrid wrapped in an UpdatePanel. When I try adding or editing a row that violates a check constraint, I recieve the ridiculous Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerPerserErrorException: the message received from the server could not parsed... instead of the MS-SQLL error message.

Is there a way to rectify this behaviour?

But I also face this kind of problem - 'Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerPerserErrorException:'. So far I
understand this happen when there is some unrecongnize html render or event occurs. I'm also not very clear.
But I solve the issue by set the attribute EnableEventValidation="false" in the ASPX page, where I place my UpdatePanel.Thanks

Yep. You can't write to the response stream when using AJAX.

ajax toolkit tags

hi, i was just wondering because as i've seen in the examples in this forum, when adding an ajax toolkit, in the source code, you can see <ajaxToolkit:SomeToolkit> if i am not mistaken. but when i try to drag a toolkit to the page, or add a toolkit, the tag is different, like <cc1:SomeToolkit>. this puts me to confusion and i am worried that if i upload this to my host, it will not be recognized by the host and i will be obliged to change it manually. what if i have 50 pages that uses 5-8 ajax toolkits? its really a hard work. but this is just an example. maybe you guys can shed light on this. thank you.

As to your worry about different tagprefixes causing problem, it is unfounded.

The declaration at the top of your aspx page e.g.

<%@. Register Assembly="System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35"
Namespace="System.Web.UI" TagPrefix="asp" %>

and the control tagprefix need to match.

<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server">
</asp:ScriptManager>

Other than this all your pages could have different tagprefixes.

Ajax tags not registering

Hi

I want to convert my current site to an AJAX enabled site. I tried by adding a script manager control but this didn't work. I decided to start my site from scratch (it needed it anyway).

I believe that I have installed AJAX correctly. I have the AJAX Extensions, CTP, and Toolkit installed in the program Toolbox.

When I try to add the tags, <AJAX> or <ATLAS> Visual Web Developer doesn't like it. It forms a red line under it. Am I missing a step?

are you using master pages? if so, ?then there's a known issue with it and you should change the name of the prefix of the ajax controls to something different from asp in the web.config ?file.
