On your production machines you should investigate the <deployment retail="true" /> setting in machine.config. This was introduced in ASP.NET 2.0 to force 'release' mode on pages amongst other things. Related to ASP.NET AJAX Extensions it means that the ScriptManager on the page will immediately refer to 'release ' versions of scripts, regardless of any ScriptMode setting or <compilation debug="true" .. /> setting that may reside in you app's root web.config.
It seems that this part of the web server is working. But now I am having problems with the AJAX Tool kit. It is telling me that the assembly is not found.
Do you have the newest toolkit dll in the bin folder?
